Sheeple, sheeple everywhere!
What is the definition of “sheeple?”
plural noun: sheeple
people compared to sheep in being docile, foolish, or easily led.
Also found a definition from Google and that goes something like this:
Sheeple is a derogatory term that highlights the passive herd behavior of people easily controlled by a governing power which likens them to sheep, a herd animal that is easily led about.
I know that most people have heard of the term sheeple…obviously referring to a herd like behavior of the human population to sheep…sheep led to the slaughter so to speak.
I’ve been involved with income generation from the Internet for a number of years and have had my own personal agenda for wanting to do so.
At 52 years of age, 53 in April, I have become increasingly critical of the “average” or “normal” citizen. Personally, I’ve never wanted to be normal or average.
I suppose you could attribute my jaded attitude to just plane growing older, but I have always been the “black sheep” of the family and typically of most of my peers.
Always questioning things, from religion to politics to the acceptance of normality…whatever that means.
I have also been the type of person that would rather have his own business than to work for others.
So when I first heard this term “sheeple” I laughed. After I laughed, I thought the term was perfect for what it was sarcastically being attached to.
Sheeple. I still laugh, but I digress.
One of the reasons why I have ALWAYS thought that generating an income with the Internet has to do with my own personality disorder, which I refer to as freedom.
Yes, folks, I’ve always been seeking freedom (as I define it) and to obtain that goal I thought that creating an online presence and an online income would be perfect for creating a lifestyle that I have always thought would be fantastic.
For me, being able to travel the world while making a living online would be the ultimate form of freedom that I was searching for. Essentially, I could do whatever I wanted to do, camp, travel, work on my hobbies, scuba dive, snow ski…you name it…and still generate an income online as long as I had my laptop and an internet connection.
To me, this is still the goal.
So, I still have quite a problem with people that think that somehow driving in bumper to bumper traffic to get to a building to go to work in, working with people that you aren’t really interested in working with and dealing with bosses that may not be the best to work for.
I just don’t get it.
Why do people get so upset over possibly having to work 3-5 years to achieve a six-figure income when, if they go at it like everyone else (ya know…the other sheeple), it will most likely take 40 years and they may or may not have a six-figure income at the end of it? And that seems preferable, why???
Seriously, people need to figure it out.
But for some reason, they can’t.
It would seem that the people, or sheeple, would rather work the 40 years building someone else’s vision and dream than work an extra 15 to 20 hours a week for 3 years building their own and this does not make sense to me.
This can’t be right!
Alas, the data would seem to support that conclusion.
And while it may seem that I am anti-job, I am not. As a matter of fact, I think having a job is an absolute must and the first step towards achieving your own financial goals and the ultimate goal of freedom.
And if sticking with that career, advancing to a point where you achieve your own goals, if that is possible, is perfectly fine as well.
The issue that I have is that approximately 70% of all employees out there complain about their situations, but when offered a solution prefer to continue down a path of complaint and apathy rather than do something about it.
And that may just be how it is.
That has been a difficult pill for me to swallow. I have had the mentality for so many years that all that people needed to escape the herd was a good plan and the help and support to achieve that plan.
Today, I am not so sure that is the right perspective to hold on to. It is extraordinarily hard to help people that refuse to be helped. It appears that much of the sheeple herd will follow the Judas lamb to slaughter, perhaps complaining along the way, but following none the less.
It seems that there are a large number of folks that, as long as they have their TV shows, their 2 or 3 week vacations to escape their station in life for the moment, all is well.
So for the other 30% out there, especially those that are still in those jobs that want something else, those of us that have broken free of the herd, or are at least working towards that end, are here waiting to lend a hand and we will be more than happy, even excited, to help you negotiate your way from the sheeple heard to something greater.
See you at the top!
